Review: Messy Me Baking Gift Set

So I was delighted when the lovely Helen from a fab little company called Messy-me contacted me recently in relation to reviewing one of the Messy Me Baking Gift Sets. I had been in search of an apron for my little lady as it happens, and I really wanted one that would last a long time while being wipe clean ideally.

When the package arrived, I was not disappointed! In a cardboard box with the Messy-me logo, was a fabulous little baking set, which consisted of an apron, five star shaped cutters and a mini rolling pin. Ever so cute!

I chose this adorable print called Pastel Roses which is a duck egg blue with white polka dots and beautiful pink and green flowers. The apron also comes in Dusty Blue Mini Stars, Dusty Pink Dots, Red Dots, Red Stars and Grey Stars which you can check out here. I LOVE that they are wipe clean, and are suited for ages 3-5 which makes it long lasting too.

So on to the baking! Everything we needed was out, and of course the threenager donned her new little apron with pride – looking good Isla! Even though you had already dived right in to the flour at this stage…the messy face!

Now anyone who has a toddler or threenager will know that baking with little ones is messy. Like really messy! It took all of my willpower now to clean up before we were done! But we did it nonetheless and Isla was happy out. Besides, the apron wasn’t going to be a problem eh?!

We put all our ingredients together following instructions of a recipe that we also got in our box. A lovely touch! Once we had our dough chilled and ready from the fridge, it was time roll! I just think it’s the cutest thing, and perfect for small hands. Isla loved being able to take control.

Once we had it all rolled out, with a little help from Mama, we got our star shaped cutters out. As mentioned, you get five in the box, five different sizes. I love the vibrant colours of them and again, perfect for little hands. Isla loves stars!

Into the oven they went and 12 minutes later, we had our biscuits made – great recipe! We aren’t going to be putting ourselves forward for The Great Irish Bake Off anytime soon so course they were perfectly imperfect, also delicious!

Overall I was really impressed with this little kit. My favourite item has to be the apron which is a great fit, practical and most of all, beautiful! The cutters and mini rolling pin are great to have in the drawer too for mini budding bakers. I found the addition of a recipe was great too so we didn’t have to go looking for one. All in all, I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to review the kit and it would be ideal for your little one or as a gift at what I think is a reasonable £19.50. Should you wish to purchase the kit you can see them here.
